The heart in action
Kokoro energy in practical application
The Kokoro or heart of all things has been defined as the collective energies of the Tao and anti-Tao of all possible universes and there opposites as well as every variation thereof. Each Tao is composed of yin and yang and the Kokoro its self is composed of the Ku or mind-body continuum and the Wu or power-image continuum. In the individual or microcosmic realm yin and yang compose an individual’s Chi or earthly life force while the Kokoro is echoed in the Ki or personal power of the individual. The Chi is resonant with the flow of the Tao and the life that would be in line with the Tao while the Ki flows with the anti-Tao and the lives that could be if the Ki as the will is employed. Chi is manifest through air, fluids, spiritual essences, food, sexual activity, spiritual beings and divinities. Of the seven manifestations of Chi two are sentient and those are entities and divinities and what sets them apart is that they have will or Ki energy of their own.
Ki is the result of sentient control over the Chi and refining that Chi that that a portion of it becomes set apart from the general energies of life becoming personal power or energy not focused toward the sustaining of life. Ki energy personal power is because its purpose is not dictated by biology and so can be used or invested as the individual wills. Chi tends toward mysticism i.e. flowing with the Tao while Ki tends toward magick i.e. causing change or flowing with the anti-Tao of one’s choice. Reaction flows with the forces of Chi as lines of yin and yang are acted upon lines of opposite force. Willed action flows with the force of Ki because use of the Ki requires intention and implies deciding to act. Intention can be affected by Chi, by outer stimulus but the individual must choose to use Ki. The difference between Chi and Ki shows why the individual is never without options and that while external things have an influence the individual always has a choice in what they do or not.
By using the Om-Mo the adept feels the flow of the Tao and the anti-Tao and through them becomes aware of the other Tao-anti-Tao pairings and thus the totality of the Kokoro. The flow of the Kokoro is symbolized by a black eight rayed lotus flow but the Tao pairings are far from limited to eight. The adept is meant to listening for the Om-Mo rather than to perform it, seeking it in the biological center of his being. The vibration should fill one’s aura and the adept should allow the energy to wash over one’s self. In the dual flow of each and every Tao pairing one’s Ki energy has a manifestation which the adept can sense much as one can feel a muscle respond to an electrical pulse. The adept can sync his Ki with those cosmic echoes of his Ki and thus channel that energy into his own Ki amplifying the adept’s own energy with that of the cosmos. In the ebb and flow of the Kokoro the world should seem to be swept away with the individual seeming both under water and in the void of space at the same time. This is why the Kokoro is often linked with being an ocean not of space or time but both and neither at the same time. The Tao and anti-Tao each have a pulse like that of a heart; Tao is the flow of the Ku reached through meditative thought while the anti-Tao is the flow of the Wu reached through ritual action. Martial science can be seen as a fusion of meditative thought and ritualized action. To simplify matters the ancients reduced all things to the nine elements of nature.
