The white wind and the black
Wind, water, fire, earth, wood, metal, jewel and matter these are the elemental manifestations of energy whose interaction create and sustain said energy, creation out of entropy as energy slows down to become the elements. The elements interact and create tension through which energy is released in order to maintain the balance of the elements. There is the wind of the world, the white wind or Shiro Kaze, born of matter starting to break down into the elements which is life to those on earth, life through decay. There is the wind of the void, the black wind or Kuroi Kaze which is born not of one element interacting with another but rather the seething storm of the cycle of all the elements, not the energy but the ebb and flow of that energy. The black wind is the echo or shadow of all things gathering momentum to become a thing all of its own, a reality from phantasm. The vibration that the black wind represents is an awareness of the Om-Mo of the Kokoro a nonlocal, non-particular quantum thing that can function as any element of nature. On a symbolic level the black wind is the black lotus of enlightenment reduced to vapor able to take any form or release any strand of space-time or energy.
In a liturgy of the Kalachakra the black wind is referred to as “the exceedingly moving wind” but that is just the fin of the shark so to speak pointing out the shark but without revealing the full bulk or power of the shark. In full the black wind is the shadow of the movement of the Kalachakra putting the totality of the great wheel as a phantasm within the grasp of the will strong enough to reach it. The Komuso or “monk of the void” understands that his personal harmony or “Wa” is a microcosm of that of the cosmos which would include what is represented by the Kalachakra and therefore its shadow. The Komuso aligns his harmony, not just his will, his entire being as vibration to the shadow of the Kalachakra using entropy as a path to create any outcome the Komuso wills to exist, creating a reality from an ideal falsehood. In tactical terms this falsehood is an appearance of weakness and insignificance made into a screen and weapon to enable the adept to do its will. Stillness and calm in the outer or visible world is a crucible for the seething storm of the void, the self echoing the cosmos.
In terms of mundane combat the black wind is meant to make use of the remains of any movement performed by a target transforming the force of a target into the very weapon that negates the target. This technique allows the Komuso to hold its own force in reserve making use of the momentum and tension created by a target. Using the black wind should make interaction with a target refreshing rather than draining because one is negating the actions of a target while channeling the force of the target to the aim of the adept. To face the black wind in any way is to be overcome by the force one is using through that force being deflected by the black wind. This is because the black wind is the element of matter in motion but before it could be defined as not being any other element, any element it meets it mimics and thus consumes it. Because the black wind is a gathering of the motion of the elements it is a phantom creation or a ghost, both a blind and a reality. The razor thin line between being a blind and being a reality is the space between life and death in which the white wind is but a leaf in the vacuum of space. To reach the black wind is to look upon the heart of all things without agenda or hope that one is not a part of it.
